Huntsville, ON – Eric Zhao of Bayview Golf & Country Club was crowned the 2025 Ontario Men’s Amateur Champion after an incredible playoff victory.
Zhao edged out Team Ontario’s Dawson Lew (Coppinwood Golf Club) in a playoff after both players finished tied at 7-under-par through four rounds.
Among the youngest players in the field, Zhao and Lew showcased maturity beyond their years and solidified themselves as two of the province’s brightest rising stars.
Zhao’s steady play — posting rounds of 70-71-70-70 for a 281 total — highlighted the consistency and composure that carried him through a weather-disrupted week. Despite delays and uncertainty, Zhao remained unfazed, delivering when it mattered most.
Garrett Rank (Westmount Golf & Country Club), the 2018 Men’s Amateur Champion, finished third and continued to prove why he remains a timeless force in Canadian amateur golf.
The event capped off a thrilling week at Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course, where weather delays, dramatic finishes, and standout performances made for an unforgettable championship.
Golf Ontario would like to extend a sincere thank you to the volunteers, officials, and Deerhurst Highlands staff for their exceptional support and hospitality throughout the week. Their efforts were instrumental in delivering a world-class experience.
