2025 Golf Ontario Scholarships & Financial Assistance

Golf Ontario is proud to support aspiring students with a passion for golf by offering scholarships to help ease financial burdens and empower them to focus on achieving their academic goals. In collaboration with donors, Golf Ontario administers named scholarship awards in memory of remarkable Ontarians. The scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible students based on academic merit, involvement in golf, and a commitment to excellence in their chosen field of study.  Please refer to the Golf Ontario Scholarship Policy for more details.  

Scholarship Applications Now Open! 

Applications will be accepted starting May 16, 2025, with a deadline of June 30, 2025. The Scholarship Committee will carefully review all submissions, and selected recipients will be notified of awards in August.

  • Are You Eligible For A Scholarship?

    Explore financial support opportunities for junior golfers through Golf Ontario’s scholarships, grants, and awards. Applications open May 16.

    Application Requirements: 

    1. Resident of Ontario 
    1. Complete Scholarship Application Form (online) 
    1. Minimum overall academic average of 75% 
    1. Active Golf Ontario/Golf Canada Membership (member number) 
    1. Demonstrate active involvement in the game of golf through; 
    • Competitive golf (club level, regional, provincial, national, international) 
    • Community involvement, Volunteer hours 
    • Golf Industry experience 

    Supporting Documents: 

    1. A typed, one-page personal essay on “How Golf Has Shaped My Life”  
    1. Academic transcript 
    1. Proof of College/University acceptance or enrolment 
    1. Letter of recommendation 
    1. Resume

Special Scholarship Awards

Golf Ontario has developed special scholarship awards to honour the memory of amazing Ontarian Dave Mills, Ken McKenzie, Christine Fisher, Craig Revell, Helena Harbridge and Bill Bath, who have contributed so much to the game of golf in the province. Golf Ontario will present these special awards to a deserving recipients, who demonstrate the passion and dedication to the game that was ever so present in Dave, Ken, Christine, Craig, Helena and Bill.

  • About the Ken McKenzie Award

    Honouring the Legacy of Ken McKenzie

     Ken McKenzie was one of Canada’s most accomplished amateur golfers of the 1930s. A strong advocate for junior golf, he believed in nurturing young talent and expanding access to the sport. His commitment to the next generation of golfers was exemplified by his generous $75,000 donation to the Golf Association of Ontario’s Junior Scholarship Fund in 2004. This fund continues to support student-athletes, helping them pursue both their academic and athletic dreams while honoring Ken’s enduring legacy in Canadian golf. 

    The Ken McKenzie Award is honored to present a $4,000 scholarship to a deserving recipient this year, recognizing excellence in academics, golf, and community involvement. 

  • About the Christine Fisher Memorial Student Award

    Honouring the Legacy of Christine Fisher 

    Christine Fisher devoted many years to Golf Ontario as a passionate volunteer and a supporter of junior amateur golf in the province. In recognition of her contributions, Brian Fisher, the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation, and Golf Ontario established this scholarship award in 2005. Designed to celebrate her legacy, it serves as a lasting tribute, ensuring that Christine’s impact on the golfing community will always be remembered. 

    This award will be presented to a female golfer who exemplifies excellence both on and off the course. The ideal recipient will have a strong academic record, notable achievements in golf at the local, provincial, and national levels, active participation in extracurricular activities, and a commitment to giving back to the sports community. Preference will be given to applicants from the Waterloo Region or those currently attending the University of Waterloo. 

    This year, the Christine Fisher Memorial Student Award is pleased to award $5,700 to one deserving recipient.  

  • About the Craig Revell Scholarship

    Honoring the Legacy of Craig Revell

    Established in 2005 to honor Craig Revell’s legacy, the Golf Ontario Junior Scholarship celebrates his outstanding contributions to the sport. Created to recognize his success on the course and in academics, the scholarship reflects Craig’s belief that education was essential to excelling in golf and life. 

    A true embodiment of the game’s spirit, Craig’s dedication as both a player and a person continues to inspire future generations. From major junior tournament victories to earning a golf scholarship at Michigan State University, his achievements are a testament to his passion and commitment. 

    This year, the Golf Ontario Craig Revell Junior Scholarship is proud to award $4,000 to one deserving recipient. 

     

  • About the Helena Harbridge Scholarship

    Honoring the Legacy of Helena Harbridge 

    Helena Harbridge of Etobicoke was one of Ontario’s top junior golfers, known for her determination, resilience, and passion for the sport. Though her passing was unexpected and untimely, her impact will never be forgotten. In her honor, this scholarship was established in 2006 and aims to support student-athletes who have overcome adversity to achieve their goals both on and off the golf course. Through this award, Helena’s legacy of hard work, perseverance, and dedication will continue to inspire future generations, ensuring her spirit lives on in the game she loved. 

    This year, the Golf Ontario Helena Harbridge Junior Scholarship is pleased to award $4,000 to one deserving recipient. 

  • About the Dave Mills Scholarship

    Honoring the Legacy of Dave Mills 

    Leading the association for nearly 17 years, former Executive Director (from 1997- January 2014) of Golf Ontario, Dave Mills, committed a lifetime of passion to the sport. Over the years, Dave was at the helm for many successful initiatives, including introducing learn to play clinics, educational seminars, Golf in Schools, new provincial championships, creating the GAO Scholarship Program, Team Ontario, and participation in Canadian and Ontario Summer Games. Dave was also instrumental in leading the process to amalgamate Ontario Golf Association with the Ontario Ladies Golf Association, to create Golf Ontario, now one of the largest golf associations in North America. 

    Dave was committed to the game in many ways. While also a certified rules official, he was a consistent volunteer at many events across Ontario—even into his retirement. His love for the game was evident throughout his life, and he cherished every moment he got to tee it up with friends and family. 

    To honour his legacy, Golf Ontario has established the Dave Mills Scholarship for aspiring Canadian student-athletes pursuing post-secondary opportunities. This year, two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded (one female, one male) to deserving recipients.

  • About the Baka Mobile Scholarship

    Since partnering with Golf Ontario in 2004, Baka Communications has been a steadfast supporter of amateur golf in Ontario, sharing a commitment to fostering the sport’s grassroots development. Their dedication to junior golf is reflected in their annual support of one male and one female junior golfer, helping them achieve their goals both on the course and in the classroom.  

    The Baka Mobile Scholarship is pleased to award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving recipients this year. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing post-secondary education in Ontario. 

  • About the Bill Bath Scholarship Award

    Honouring the Legacy of Bill Bath 

    Bill Bath embodied golf’s true spirit—passionate about the game and deeply committed to giving back. His dedication lives on through the Bill Bath Scholarship Award (established in 2024), funded by proceeds from the Bill Bath Tea Cup Golf Classic. This scholarship reflects his vision of supporting future generations of academically and athletically gifted golfers, ensuring young athletes can pursue their dreams on and off the course. 

    Bill’s impact extended far beyond the fairways. As a father, husband, mentor, teacher, and friend, he inspired many with his sincerity, humour, and unwavering dedication. Whether teaching, playing, or caddying, his love for the game was evident in everything he did. For over 20 years as a golf instructor, he instilled patience, determination, and perseverance in his students, shaping not only their skills but their futures. 

    To honour his legacy, the Bill Bath Scholarship will award $2,000 to one deserving recipient this year, with preference given to applicants from the Regional Municipality of Durham. Through this scholarship, Bill’s spirit of mentorship, kindness, and dedication to golf will continue to inspire generations to come.
