When the Durham Lords golf team signed up for Golf Ontario’s 1000 Ball Challenge this spring, the objective was straightforward: raise funds to support their student-athletes.
What they discovered was a fundraising model that delivered far more than financial support.

“Every dollar raised has a direct impact on the quality of the student-athlete experience,” said Pichl.

Perhaps the most valuable outcome wasn’t financial at all.
The challenge created an opportunity for players to work toward a common goal while supporting one another throughout the day.
“Our players had a fantastic experience,” said Pichl. “The challenge was physically demanding but also incredibly rewarding. It pushed them to stay focused, work together and support one another throughout the day.”
Beyond the golf itself, the event created lasting memories and gave players a sense of pride knowing they were helping support the future success of their program.
