156 players teed off today at Deerhurst Highlands, the acclaimed course located within Deerhurst Resort, for Round One of the 103rd Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship—marking the beginning of what promises to be one of the most exciting weeks in Ontario amateur golf.
After 18 holes of stroke play, four players sit tied atop the leaderboard at 4-under-par (68):
- Matthew Whitehead (Whistle Bear Golf Club)
- Andre Zhu (Granite Golf Club)
- Traynor Turkiewicz (Brantford Golf and Country Club)
- Garrett Rank (Westmount Golf and Country Club)
Close behind at -3 (T5) are Team Ontario members Spencer Shropshire (Hawk Ridge Golf Club) and Luke Smith (The Thornhill Club), while four others are tied at -2 (T7): Domenic De Luca (The National Golf Club of Canada), Ellis Kinnaird (Mississippi Golf Club), Eric Zhao (Bayview Golf & Country Club), and Team Ontario’s Chase Jerome (Royal Ottawa Golf Club).
The second round of the Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship will begin at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, June 26) off both the 1st and 10th tees, as players aim to position themselves above the 36-hole cut line.
