The Ontario Women’s & Women’s Senior Four-Ball Championship returns on September 28, bringing 112 players and 56 teams to The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto in Thornhill for one of the province’s premier women’s team competitions.
The 18 hole championship will see two-player teams compete in a four-ball format, with the best score between partners counting on each hole.
This year marks the seventh time that The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto has hosted the championship, continuing a longstanding partnership between Golf Ontario and one of the province’s most historic clubs. “With its recently completed club renovations and long-standing reputation as a champion of women’s golf in Ontario, the club provides an exceptional setting for this year’s event,” said Tournament Director Mason Cowan.
A Historic Home for Women’s Golf
The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto is a fitting host for this year’s championship. Founded in 1924 by pioneering Canadian golfer Ada Mackenzie, it has played an important role in supporting the women’s game for more than a century.
Hosting the championship is especially meaningful for the club, according to Director of Golf Quinn Godfrey. “As the only private golf club in North America founded by women, supporting and celebrating women’s golf is woven into our history and identity. To welcome some of the province’s top female amateur golfers to our course is both an honour and a natural fit for who we are as a club.” he says.

A Unique Championship Test
Players will face a strategic challenge at The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto, a Stanley Thompson design that rewards patience, precision and smart decision-making. “The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto was strategically designed for the women’s game, which makes it a unique and fitting venue for this championship,” said Quinn Godfrey. “The course features a balanced layout of six par 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s.” Competitors will need to carefully navigate the course and take advantage of scoring opportunities when they arise.
Tournament Director, Mason Cowan emphasized that patience and course management will be key to success. “Like many of Stanley Thompson’s designs, The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto rewards players who are patient and demonstrate strong course management. Competitors will need to identify the proper side of fairways and execute their approach shots to score well,” he says.
